Gardening Theatre confirmed for Spring Live! 2019

On Sunday 5th and Monday 6th May 2019, the second annual Spring Live! event will take place at the South of England Showground. Organisers have now announced that the much-loved gardening theatre has blossomed and will return with a bigger programme for budding gardeners and enthusiasts.

Green-fingered visitors of all ages are in for a treat as the Society is offering a range of shopping opportunities, interactive workshops and a number of panel talks over the two-day event.

Sitting on the board on this year’s gardening panel is BBC Sussex, Surrey and Kent’s Jean Griffin,Neil Helyer, integrated pest management specialist at Fargro, Mark Dobell of Gardener’s Den, which provides professional gardening services, and Paul Dalby of the National Vegetable Society, and Dahlia grower.. The Head Gardener at Leonardslee Gardens, Ray Abrahams, will also be on hand to talk to guests about the new look of the key Sussex attraction.

All generations will love the pumpkin and squash seed sewing workshops. Participants can even enter their delicious vegetables planted at the show, and nurtured at home, into a competition at the Society’s Autumn Show & Game Fair in October

Furthermore, with the ever-growing threat to our global bee population, the Sussex Beekeepers’Association will be on hand to chat to visitors and give advice on how we can help the insects that are so vital to our survival.

Iain Nicol, CEO of the South of England Agricultural Society, said:

“The gardening theatre at Spring Live! has been a popular attraction at the show and this year the line-up is better than ever. We’re delighted to be bringing so many experts to the panel to share their knowledge with our guests. It’s an ideal opportunity for visitors to take away some really usefultips on getting their gardens ready for summer.”

The show isn’t just for gardening enthusiasts though; Spring Live! is set to be the ultimate family day out. For children, not only can they attend free of charge (with a paying adult), they can enjoy wand making, medieval games, animal meet and greet, exhilarating Segway or mini-monster truck courses and more.

Adults are also sure to be impressed with the mouth-watering treats on offer in the artisan food hall, the new street food area, the shopping area and even the live entertainment on the Talent Stage provided by East Sussex College.
