After its successful makeover of Horsham Park’s tennis courts last summer, Horsham District Council is now pleased to introduce its first annual membership scheme to the courts on Friday 27 July.
To mark the launch of the annual tennis scheme the Council is hosting a ‘Free tennis Friday” event on 27 July. Residents and visitors are invited to arrive at the Horsham Park courts at any time from 11.30am to 7.30pm where they can enjoy free tennis with representatives from the Lawn Tennis Association, Horsham District Council Sports Development team and local coaching staff.
The annual membership scheme represents extremely good value for money at just £45 a year per family.
In order to sign up for annual membership to the new scheme, please go to www.horshamparktennis.com.
Commenting on the new tennis membership scheme, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture Cllr Jonathan Chowen said:
“I am delighted that after the extensive improvements the Council delivered for these courts last year, we are now making tennis even more accessible to more local people by introducing this annual membership for families at such an affordable rate.
“After the excitement of the Wimbledon fortnight I would encourage as many of you as possible to come down to the park and try out the new courts, then sign up for annual membership.”
The tennis court improvements made by the Council last year include new fencing, new surfaces, re-marking and a new gate and booking system, ensuring that players can guarantee use of a court at their chosen time. The introduction of floodlighting allows players to maximise bookings throughout the year, with play continuing into the evening.
All four courts can be used specifically for tennis over the summer months, however in the autumn and winter months, one court can be used for multi sports.
