The Fittleworth Store Committee have dedicated much of their time over recent months to applying for as many grants as they have been able to. Grant funding is a key part of their funding plan for the shop and playground projects.
They have already received grants from Chichester District Council and the South Downs National Park. Well, a month on and they have three more grant offers to add to the pile!
- £12,500 from the West Sussex Members’ Big Society Fund. This fund supports investment in community led projects which achieve the ambitions of the Future West Sussex Plan, with a particular focus this year on projects supporting well-being. The Fund have awarded this sum towards the shop.
- £10,000 from the Awards for All Scheme. This is one of the National Lottery funds and is aimed at delivering small grants for projects that matter to people and their communities. The grant is for the build and fit out costs of the shop.
- £10,000 again from the National Lottery Awards for All Scheme. This separate grant is towards the playground project.
The above 3 grants together with those from Chichester District Council (£15,000 towards the build costs of the shop) and the Sustainable Communities Fund at the South Downs National Park Authority (£10,000 towards fit out costs) brings the overall grants total to £57,500.
The Store Committee hope to have more good news soon, after they hear back from their other grant applications. They are due to here back from their largest grant application next month – for £75,000 from the West Sussex County Council Leader programme.
