International Women’s Day opening of Vindication Swim at Duke of Yorks followed by a run at Komedia

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the much-anticipated biopic Vindication Swim is hitting cinemas in Brighton on the 8th of March. The film dives into the extraordinary life of Mercedes Gleitze, who in 1927 became the first British woman to swim the English Channel.
On the 8th of March there will be an exclusive screening at Brighton’s Duke of York’s Picturehouse with a post-screening Q&A featuring Brighton-based writer/director Elliott Hasler alongside lead actors Kirsten Callaghan and John Locke (Poor Things, Darkest Hour, The Favourite). From the 9th of March, Vindication Swim, which author Peter James described as “genuinely one of the most compelling, engaging and enjoyable films I’ve seen in a long while”, will be playing a run at Duke’s At Komedia Picturehouse.
Brighton residents can take pride in the fact that their city also played a pivotal role in Mercedes Gleitze’s life, having been born in the city in 1900. Much of the film was also shot in Brighton.
