Work of MacDonald Gill

MacDonald ‘Max’ Gill was an architect, graphic designer and mapmaker, best known for his pictorial maps in places like the London Underground – though his work can be found in several location across Britain.

He painted maps, murals and publicity posters. He also made an alphabet for the Imperial War Graves Commission which has been used on British military headstones since WWI.

Illustrated lecture host

This illustrated lecture by his great-niece, Caroline Walker, presents an overview of his personal life and artistic achievements, using local connections to locations of his artwork where possible.
