Carrie Donohoe textile and mixed media
Carrie Donohoe is a textile artist who works from her home studio in Brighton.
Her passion for textiles began initially with the development of contemporary machine embroidery techniques with she created many delicate pieces of jewellery and accessories.
Nowadays Carrie’s work is very varied and constantly evolving. She driven to master new techniques which she then adapts to express her ideas.
Carrie is largely inspired by nature and the world around her. She has mastered many more experimental approaches to contemporary machine and hand stitching whilst incorporating found pieces of nature. In addition she has developed many mixed media skills which when combined with stitch bring together endless exciting ways of working with colour and texture.
Recent works include unique and decorative accessories, using hand printed /dyed fabrics, hand printed and crafted papers, books and cards, altered photographs plus fabric and paper collage.
