Start time: 10:30 Oaklands Farm, Shipley, West Sussex will be open in aid of The National Garden Scheme, 16th July. Oaklands Farm is a country garden, designed by Nigel Philips in 2010. The oak lined drive leads to the house and farm and opens out to an enclosed courtyard with pleached hornbeam and yew. The herbaceous borders are colourful throughout the year. Wild meadow lead to an orchard and views across the fields. The garden is an open flat space of about two acres, with a large lawn and grass paths leading to wilder areas, ideal for disabled visitors in dry weather. There is a good selection of mature specimen trees and pretty vegetable garden, greenhouse, orchard, and small pond. There are hens and geese and an aviary of finches and doves. Perennial plants for sale. Home-made teas. Picnics welcome.
