Event Information

Classical Guitar Concert at Regis School of Music

Xufei started learning the guitar at the age of 7 and won second prize at the Beijing senior guitar competition when 11 years old. She was the first-ever guitarist in China to study at a Music School at which there was no faculty for guitar.

For Xufei, one of the joys of performing in the UK is that concerts attract a music loving audience not only in cities but also in small villages. To reflect this love, she is embarking on a country wide tour from Lichfield to Walthamstow with a different programme at each venue. West Sussex are host to one of these concerts at the Regis School of Music, Bognor Regis.

The repertoire in this tour reflects both her own cultural heritage and but also her study at the Royal Academy in London. She will be performing her own composition Xinjiang fantasy. “When the birds return” by John Williams, is testimony to his wonder at hearing her play in a Masterclass in Beijing and to her gratitude for his unconditional support.
