Service of Choral Evensong with preacher Bishop Lindsay Urwin followed by drinks and morris dancing

Australian bishop Lindsay Urwin will be the guest preacher at a special Choral Evensong service celebrating St Mary’s patronal festival.

Bishop Lindsay has recently returned to England following his retirement from Christ Church Brunswick in the Diocese of Melbourne where he was vicar. He was previously Bishop of Horsham from 1993-2009.

Fr Felix Smith, Vicar of South Lancing and Sompting said “In the Church the day ends with an evening service of prayer and praise, using the traditional language of the Book of Common Prayer.

“This service is led by our amazing choir of about thirty who come together, under the direction of Aedan Kerney, especially for our Evensong services. The choir sing responses, canticles, an anthem, and the psalms set for the day on our behalf, allowing us to experience the beauty of the music in this iconic setting.
The service will be followed by beer, pimms and morris dancing from Sompting Village Morris.
