Start time: 19:45 Monthly Jazz concert, this month with Alto saxophonist Tommaso Starace’s Quartet Alto saxophonist Tommaso Starace’s Quartet will include Dave O’Higgins as tenor saxophonist, Chris Nicholls on drums and Alec Dankworth on bass (one of Britain’s foremost jazz musicians, and son of Johnny Dankworth). He calls it a “Harmonyless” quartet because of the absence of a harmonic instrument (such as a piano or guitar), which allows both saxophonists to improvise with more freedom when soloing. This hard-swinging group will be playing a mixture of original tunes and great jazz standards! Entry costs £15, or £8 for members (students £5 and £3). The season’s Membership is: Joint £45, Single £25 (students £5) so you get your membership cost back if you attend 4 gigs! The Club provides up to 160 unnumbered seats (most with tables) and a bar. Start time is 7.45 finishing about 10.20 with a 20 minute interval at about 9 o’clock.
