Start time: 19:30 Three Sussex-based musicians come together to perform three superb works for piano trios Violinist Jonathan Truscott, cellist Rachel Firmager and pianist William Hancox join forces to present the first of many concerts for Music Box Wealden. Haydn’s Piano Trio No. 39 in G major, often nicknamed ‘Gypsy Rondo,’ is probably the best-known of his many trios. The famous finale, in ‘Hungarian style’, includes several gypsy tunes. The Phantasie for piano trio is an early work of a great English composer with strong Sussex connections – Frank Bridge was born in Brighton, lived in Friston and died in Eastbourne. The concert finishes with Mendelssohn’s wonderful four movement trio in C minor, which he presented to his sister, the pianist and composer Fanny Mendelssohn on her birthday in 1846.
