This modern adaptation, by David Harrower, of a nineteenth century play emanating from Russia, is a sparkling and energetic, occasionally ribald, satirical comedy of errors which will be a wonderful antidote to the horrors of the past eighteen months or so! In a small provincial town the mayor and his subordinates are awaiting a visit from a government inspector to check up on their activities.
