Start time: 19:00 A speaker from Commonwealth War Graves Commission will talk on the work of the organisation at the Storrington Museum as we near Remembrance weekend Heading towards Remembrance weekend, speaker Graeme MacPherson from Commonwealth War Graves Commission will provide a talk on its history, the archives, horticulture, architecture and conservation. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is an intergovernmental organisation of six independent member states whose principal function is to mark, record and maintain the graves and places of commemoration of Commonwealth of Nations military service members who died in the two World Wars. It maintains over 23,000 cemeteries. Starting with the formation during the First World War and the first steps towards commemorating the 1.7 million Commonwealth men and women who lost their lives during both world wars.
