Start time: 13:00 Sussex Prairie garden is open for the National Garden Scheme on Sunday 11th September, 1pm-5pm Sussex Prairie is an 8acres (approx.) garden planted in the naturalistic style using 60,000 plants and over 1,600 different varieties. A colourful garden featuring a huge variety of unusual ornamental grasses. Expect layers of colour, texture and architectural splendour. Surrounded by mature oak trees with views of Chanctonbury Ring and Devil’s Dyke on the South Downs. Permanent sculpture collection and exhibited sculpture throughout the season. Rare breed sheep and pigs. New tropical entrance garden planted in 2018. Also, on the NGS Open Day there will be Willow Harmony a cappella group singing, a RSPB stand and a pop-up art exhibition. Picnics welcome, but take rubbish away. Home-made teas. Sussex Prairies is open in aid of the National Garden Scheme on this date. The NGS have donated over £63 million to nursing and health charities. Their core beneficiaries include Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
