James Russell, art historian and curator, is running the ‘Tirzah Garwood: Beyond Ravilious’ at Dulwich Picture Gallery from November 2024 to May 2025. As well as lecturing for The Arts Society, James gives illustrated talks and runs study days for museums, art organisations and festivals including the V&A, Pallant House, National Maritime Museum and many more. The lecture on Tirzah Garwood, exploring the eighty-plus works produced in her lifetime, will provide an in-depth analysis of her ‘haunting, folk-art-inspired oil paintings’ whilst illuminating her creative relationship with Ravilious.
