Derrick Hughes will talk on his 17 years as a primary school headteacher with a series of humorous anecdotes. His story starts with his schooldays aged 6 and how schools and teaching has changed. At Nottingham College of Education he discovered a love of teaching but also beekeeping. Teaching was not well paid, so he supplemented his income with guitar lessons. Listen to his model for how to run a school, how to deal with bullying and the ‘joys’ of role playing. An amusing talk is promised. Members £6, Non-Members £8. Pay at the door.
