Event Short Description

Discover the murkier side of life in Georgian Arundel in this evening talk at Arundel Museum

Event Information

In this talk, Chris Hare explores the murkier side of life in Georgian Arundel, including its notoriously corrupt elections, both to parliament and the town council. The rivalry between the Dukes of Norfolk and the Shelleys of Michelgrove will also feature in the talk. This was the age of the rabble-rousing radical, John Wilkes, who is still remembered by the pub named after him in Eastergate.
