Start time: 19:30 A celebration of Arundel’s 2025 Literary Festival featuring Poetry and Flash Fiction competition win Readings from the poetry and flash fiction competition winners as well as from the judges themselves, Partrick Osada and Simon Brett. Paul Armfield returned to his beloved Isle of Wight in the early 90’s to get married, have children, sell books and write songs. His first album Songs Without Words was released in 2003 to wide critical acclaim, his voice being compared to the likes of Cat Stevens, Tim Hardin and Nick Drake and the music being described as Folk Noir. A big fan of Scott Walker Paul was likewise applauded for his renditions of Jacques Brel chansons as well as his own lovelorn, poetic songs. Gerard Logan returns to perform Oscar Wilde’s heart-rending poem The Ballad Of Reading Gaol, reflecting on his two years’ hard labour, a fellow inmate’s execution and the brutality of man’s punishment of man. Directed by Gareth Armstrong and with an original musical score by Simon Slater.
