Event Information

Prof Catherine Hall is an eminent academic and author, television presenter, will talk about Long’s legacy – he lived his last years at Arundel Castle, having spent most of his retirement years in Slindon. He wrote a three volume History of Jamaica in which he explains his views about slavery, and the wealth & power it contributed to Britain. Prof Hall will draw on her new book ‘Happy Valley: Edward Long and the history of racial capitalism’ and discuss the relevance of his views for us today.
