Dewiniath (meaning ‘Sorcery’ in Welsh) draws on ancient and cutting edge magic and involves both human, and non-human collaborators. Drawing on a rich seam of folklore and the documented history of witchcraft in the artist’s native Wales, the work uses cutting edge technology & AI. Parts were made with a group of people especially interested in ancient magic. Philosophers write on the ‘magic’ of technology, and the potential of human / tech hybrids walking the earth. Megan asks what happens when the old meets the new? What magic will we rely on in the future, and who will be practicing it? Originally encountered deep in a pine wood at Green Man festival in Wales, Dewiniaith travels to England for the first time this October for Dreamy Place. This is a free exhibition open to all.
