Start time: 10:00 West Sussex County Council will be celebrating the 50th birthday of the West Sussex Archives Society on Saturday 25 November from 10am – 3.30pm at the West Sussex Record Office in Chichester. West Sussex County Council will be celebrating the 50th birthday of the West Sussex Archives Society on Saturday 25 November from 10am – 3.30pm at the West Sussex Record Office in Chichester. The special open day will celebrate the support they have given the Record Office over the last 50 years. This High Sheriff and Lord Egremont will be in attendance giving speeches and cutting a birthday cake at 1pm. There will be an opportunity to look at a whole host of archives and artefacts, including our oldest document, an Anglo-Saxon charter of 780 from the Cathedral Archives, as well as a display of the Royal Sussex Regiment’s impressive archive and museum collections and a special archival film show from Screen Archive South East.
