Doggy Heaven at Parham Races this spring

If you have a pet and live in Sussex or surrounding counties, then there’s only one place to be on Saturday March 17th – Parham Races, home to the Crawley & Horsham Steeplechases.

Running parallel to the annual Point-to-Point Steeplechases is a dog show underwritten by Stonehouse Groundworks. Six classes will conclude with the Show Championships, including winners from all the previous events that afternoon.

Classes include Best Terrier, Best Hound, Best Working Dog, Best Cross Breed, Golden Oldies for 8 Year Old’s & Over, and Judges’ Choice. Winners will receive prizes from Oscars Pet Foods and Gatley’s Country Store. Starting at 1.15, classes will take place through the afternoon; contestants and their hairy hounds just need to turn up to take part. Entries cost £2. Given that Parham coincides with St Patrick’s Day this year, Irish wolfhounds must surely be worthy favourites for Best Hound and Judges’ Choice.

Our guest judges include Tim Wonnacott, auctioneer, director of Sotheby’s and of course, one-time presenter on BBC 1’s Bargain Hunt. Tim has also taken part in Strictly Come Dancing, so Parham should be a breeze by comparison!

So whether it’s a terrier, Pekingese, pug or St Bernard, dog lovers and owners need to be part of Parham Races to win their stripes for 2018.
