The eagle-eyed among you may have spotted a container being decorated in Horsham’s Park and Ride car park last week. Horsham District Council (HDC) are excited to confirm it’s part of a new Reuse trial to help reduce waste. Horsham area residents will be able to bring hard and soft furniture that’s in good condition to a handy Reuse Hub stationed in the Hop Oast Park and Ride Car Park, Horsham. The car park is conveniently positioned next door to the Household Waste Recycling Site, just off the A24.

The project is being launched on a trial basis to assess the take-up of such a service which will inform how the Council can work with partners in the future to deliver a solution for unwanted furniture and other household items such as toys, bikes and bric-a-brac.

Initially, they will only be able to accept wooden or soft furniture that is in good condition such as old sofas, tables, chairs, chest-of drawers, coffee tables or TV units. We cannot accept any electrical items or large domestic appliances such as TV’s, fridges or washing machines. Additional household items fit for reuse will be considered as the trial progresses.

The trial aims to capture any items that are still in good working order to keep them in circulation for longer.
