Oliver Dall is a man of many talents. Not only does he run the award winning Wizarding Shop Oliver’s Brighton in Trafalgar Street, but with a passion for helping vulnerable people on our streets, he has decided to exhibit and then auction his artwork to raise funds for Sussex Homeless Support.
The exhibition will run from Monday 10th of June at My Brighton Hotel, and will culminate in 40 pieces being auctioned off to the highest bidders in their award winning cocktail bar, Merkaba, on Friday 5th July from 6pm.
Before opening his wizarding shop, Oliver was an instant photographer for Fujifilm. He has always loved instant photos and Fujifilm commissioned him to explore creative ways of using their instant film. Oliver combined instant photos with printed digital work, bringing the photo to life and highlighting the importance of the subject, whilst giving a different angle to photography.
The artwork subjects range from graffiti pieces to charismatic people and important landmarks of Brighton. All of the artwork is printed in colour on a card mount, with sizes ranging from A4 to A3. Most pieces are framed. Incredibly, the starting price for many of these pieces is just £10 – an opportunity to own an affordable original piece and help the homeless of Brighton and Hove at the same time.
Oliver approached My Brighton Hotel, based at 17 Jubilee Street, Brighton, because he felt they were a fitting place to exhibit his work, saying ‘they are a very creative establishment. I love how unique and forward thinking they are’.

Jim Deans, founder of Sussex Homeless Support, is delighted that this event will raise much needed funds for the charity’s continuing work with the homeless and rough sleepers in the Brighton & Hove area. Saying, ‘Oliver is an ambassador for the charity, constantly coming up with unique ways to support and fund the work we do. We are so grateful for his generosity and support’.
The charity, run by volunteers and funded entirely by donations, feeds in excess of 120 homeless people every Sunday at a Street Kitchen at Brighton’s Clocktower. Each Monday it feeds 60 + people for the Antifreeze Project. It makes up weekly food parcels for homeless people who have been moved into temporary accommodation, ex servicemen and those on the poverty line and it has converted and runs two buses on the seafront. Using them as night shelters, they feed and accommodate a total of 20 people and their pets.
