Know Dementia is a Sussex-based charity offering advice and support to families, care partners and people with a diagnosis. Our main aim is to provide community events that everyone can attend in order to share precious moments together. In West Sussex we run our Memory Moments Cafés in various locations, Sporting Moments in Dial Post and Brain Waves Choir in Hassocks. A full timetable of weekly and monthly events can be found on our website or by contacting our office for a leaflet.
Our Memory Moments Cafés are informal, sociable sessions for people with memory problems to attend with a care partner. We provide tea, coffee and cake and enjoy a little fun and laughter together, with music, games, talks, animal-therapy, dance and much more. The cafés are led by an experienced co-ordinator and provide an opportunity for people to make new friends, get advice and support and have special moments away from the challenges of every day life. Please contact the office to book a place at one of our sessions.
Our Sporting Moments session is held in Dial Post and is a fun active session for people with memory problems and their care partner. Attendees enjoy a social setting to enjoy light refreshments, then games and sports including new-age curling, badminton, boccia, air-hockey, giant four-in-row, seated exercises and much more.
Booking is required.
Our Brain Waves Choir is held in Hassocks on alternate Wednesdays. This is a community choir open to anybody of any age with any neurological condition. Led by an experienced choir leader, this lovely group brings people together in fun and harmony. Booking required.
