Brighton Charity Ball raises £10,266.25 for Brain Tumour Research

Michelle De La Motte Rice from Gifts for Angels teamed up with Worthing based Vivacious Events for their 3rd Charity Ball in aid of Brain Tumour research which took place at The Grand Hotel Brighton on Saturday 3rd November 2018.

After the devastating loss of Michelle’s daughter Lola in 2006 to a brain tumour Michelle decided the way forward was to help fund vital research by supporting the charity Brain Tumour Research. Despite brain tumours being the biggest cancer killer in the under 40’s just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.

The fabulous Moulin Rouge themed evening kicked off with guests being welcomed by men juggling fire on stilts outside the venue, which was the Brighton Grand Hotel on Brighton seafront. This was followed by a sparkling as Showgirls from Manic Productions welcomed guests to the empress suite and close up magician Tony Charles was on hand to mesmerise.

Michelle De La Motte Rice owner of Gifts for Angels and one of the main organisers gave an emotional speech explaining why this evening why this evening was so important to her, we then heard from the charity representative Mr Tim Green who explained to the 200plus guest exactly where their hard earned money would be going.

During the 3 course meal guests were serenaded by the incredible talented “Alice on Sax”, she was followed by the larger than life “Spice” , a local Brighton drag act who managed to wow the audience and have them up on their feet in no time at all.

London based band The Swamp Cats band continued the party, with guests filling the dance floor ready for DJ Disco Dude who kept the party in full swing with classic pop tunes

To help raise even more funds there was an auction and raffle was called by the evenings host Worthing Toastmaster Bob Smytherman.

The evening was a great success and Gifts for Angels and Vivacious Events would like to thank their sponsors Barratts Southern Counties. The total raised was in excess of £10,000 which will go direct to Brain Tumour Research registered charity number 1153487 (England & wales) SC046840 (Scotland).
