Chichester District warmer homes scheme

A warmer homes scheme means Chichester District residents could be entitled to a free grant of up to £10,000 to make their homes warmer and more efficient this winter.

As part of the Government’s Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme, people in homes with low energy efficiency and a household income of less than £30,000 a year after housing costs, could be eligible for this grant. Also as part of this scheme, private and social landlords may be able to access up to £5,000 with a one-third contribution.

The scheme runs until 30 September 2021 and the funding can be used to upgrade successful applicants’ properties with:

  • solid wall insulation;
  • loft insulation;
  • first-time gas central heating and air-source heat pumps;
  • smart heating controls; and / or,
  • solar panels.

Councillor Alan Sutton, Cabinet Minister for Housing, Communications, Licensing and events said: “Having a warm home is really important for people’s physical and mental wellbeing and that’s why we are urging as many people as possible to check if they are eligible for this scheme, and to apply for the financial support available. The grants are available on a first-come first-served basis so we are encouraging residents to apply early to ensure their homes are ready for colder weather.

“Although we’re in summer now, and not using as much energy, now is the time to plan ahead for your energy needs in winter, so that when the season changes you have peace of mind that you have a warm home.

“This financial support is thanks to a successful bid by the council to extend funding from the Government. This scheme will run until 30 September 2021 so that we can continue to help residents save money on their energy bills and make home’s more environmentally friendly.”

Homeowners, landlords and tenants who are interested in finding out more about this scheme are encouraged to contact the council’s delivery partner, Warmer Homes at or call 0800 038 5737.
